Easter weekend

Happy Easter (way back in April)!

The cousin lineup. I might have highly encouraged Kyler to participate one last time for me...

Brinna hated the thought of putting the baskets on our heads...but it is an Allen family tradition every year.

Later that day we decorated easter eggs as a family. I might have shed a single tear at the thought of Kyler not being here with us next year. Or the year after. And Kacin gone, too. And who knows after that!

I love Kacin. He is always the last to start and the first to be done, hahaha.

I will never understand the faces they insist on making. Every. Time.

Kyler made the New Zealand flag in honor of his mission call!

Easter morning we found lovely simple gifts in our baskets.

On the stairs listening to an easter message before seeing what the easter bunny brought us.

Easter egg hunt in the backyard!

Brinna in her easter best on the way to church. She insisted on wearing her new goggles into church.

Our family's favorite easter tradition is always the egg toss at the end of easter day.

I love the chance to be together as a family on easter. I love our focus on traditions and family time. And most importantly I love our focus on the Savior. We have so much joy because of Him. We have joy in eternal families, joy in forgiveness and repentance, and joy in strength to overcome all things because of our Savior Jesus Christ.

Kyler’s mission call

This boy.
He spent two months of interviews, medical appointments, and paperwork.
There were four years of release time seminary.
And 18 years of life experience, choices, growth, and humility.
He is so ready for this.

In April, he got the most exciting message on a Tuesday morning. His call was ready!! He was so excited he said he couldn't stay in class one more second so he left school. He arranged with Eric that Eric would look at the call first and if it was stateside he would let Kyler know right away so Kyler could prepare for that. Hahaha! For the record, I was against the arrangement. Eric did look at the call, told Kyler he'd be fine, and then kept a neutral expression for the rest of the day. I really don't know how he did it--I wouldn't have been able to keep that information in.

He spread the word about his call and some friends and family came over to watch him open it.

We were SHOCKED and ECSTATIC about the call!
Auckland New Zealand!!!
My jaw dropped at that news. What an incredible mission.
But then he went on...
Mandarin speaking!!!
Say what??!!

We are thrilled for him and confident that he will thrive and grow. This will be an amazing opportunity for him to serve God.

I didn't get pictures of everyone!

So happy for my little boy who is not so little anymore.

Layla's eyes--hahaha.

A map with some of the guesses. No one guessed New Zealand!

We love Kyler so much and we are so proud of him.
