Layla is 11

Our beautiful girl turned eleven!!

What an exciting age. Layla is a delight of a human. She is quiet and thoughtful, yet brave and confident. She knows who she is and her worth. She is kind and sweet. I am the luckiest to call her my daughter and friend.

On her birthday, we did a little paddle boarding down the salt river.

Twin cousins are so lucky to have each other.

These two cousins are little dolls together, too.

We wrapped Layla's birthday presents.

We decided on a family celebration this year.

Kacin was still out of the country on her birthday so we missed that boy of ours. But it was a lovely day celebrating our Layla!!!

4th of July

Kyler and I got back from New York just in time to celebrate the 4th of July with our family. We were sure missing Kacin though who had left for Humanitarian XP in Costa Rica.

Despite the intense Arizona heat, we rode our bikes down to the Gilbert Regional Park to watch the fireworks. I'm sure glad we did for many reasons. First one being this sunset!

Once it got dark, but before fireworks there was the THE coolest drone show ever. Disneyland needs to jump on this technology for their shows. The drones lit up different colors and flew in different formations to make shapes in the sky. Spectacular!!

It was one of my happiest moments to be laying there altogether on that hill (missing Kacin so much but knowing he was there in spirit and off having an amazing adventure of his own) watching the fireworks.

I'm so grateful to live in America and for our freedoms and rights and all those who defend and uphold them. God bless the USA!

New York, day five

Our last day in New York!

Which means our last walk through central park on our way to church.

I just wanted one nice picture in central park with him and this is what I got.

Once I threatened to punch him in the face he complied.

We really enjoyed testimony meeting at church! One person talked about the diversity in New York and the recognition that God knows and loves each of us and it echoed my sentiments as we walked around the city.

We spent a little bit of time walking through the American History Museum. Insane lines to get in, and not really worth it in my opinion, except for the nostalgia of the Night at the Museum movies.

And Kyler kissing a whale. That was worth the line maybe.

I did love hugging the meteorite and then looking at all the rocks and gems.

Rocks make me think of (and miss) my mama.

We should've brought gum gum.

Our last subway ride to the airport.

He looked more like a man than my little boy waiting for that subway.

Such an amazing trip and I am SO SO glad we made it happen.

New York, day 4

Another beautiful day in New York City! I really loved being there in the summer. It was a little warm at times, but mostly it was completely perfect.

We started out the day with another walk through Central Park.

We visited the Empire State Building.

No way was I going to even stand on this glass. But Kyler was brave enough to get the full scope of how high up we were.

Such amazing daytime views of the city.

Next we visited the Manhattan temple and did an endowment session there. I love watching Kyler’s love of temples since he went through. It was so special to go together.

Another stop for banana pudding. Yum.

We admired the beauty of Grand Central Station.

We saw so many “influencers” and intense modeling pictures. So Kyler and I have it a try. If we were instagram influencers…

Probably there are reasons we are not.

Kyler made us walk through Times Square every chance he got. I complained and he was energized by it.

Last minute we bought tickets to Harry Potter. I am SO SO glad we did. It was the most spectacular show!!!

We were so excited about it we took way too many pictures.

Kyler bought me butter beer!

The magic of the show was truly breathtaking. Like WOW WOW WOW. We had both read the book before and thought it was just alright but watching it come to life on the stage was the coolest.

Magic in the lobby to see our patronus. Cool.

We had an amazing day!
